Praise and Worship Department
The Mt. Hermon Church Praise and Worship Department is a comprehensive ministry that meets the needs of a diverse body of members. We are passionate about Christian worship and embrace the values that it contributes to our church and society. Therefore, we are creative, energetic, entrepreneurial, innovative, and proactive, consistently seeking new ways to fulfill the church’s mission, vision, core principles, and goals.
Music Ministry
The Mt. Hermon Music Ministry is a graded music program whose purpose is to praise and worship God while meeting the musical needs of the congregation. The music staff includes the Minister of Music, staff musicians, choir directors, and team leads. There are currently four choirs and four Praise & Worship Teams that minister weekly, lifting up the name of Jesus through the ministry of music.
Ministry Opportunities
Mass Choir
The Mass Choir is made up of adults ages 18 and older. The choir sings a wide range of African American sacred music, including hymns, anthems, praise and worship, traditional gospel, and contemporary gospel.
- Rehearsal: Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
- Ministers: Every first and third Sunday and during special programs.
Male Chorus
The Male Chorus is made up of men ages 18 and older. The choir primarily sings quartet selections, hymns, anthems, praise and worship, traditional gospel, and contemporary gospel.
- Rehearsal: Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
- Ministers: Every fourth Sunday.
Youth Choir
The Youth Choir consists of children ages 4–18. The choir performs music appropriate for children, including hymns, children’s contemporary gospel, and praise and worship.
- Rehearsal: Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
- Ministers: Every second Sunday (Youth Sunday) and during special programs.
Mission Choir
The Mission Choir is made up of women ages 18 and older. The choir sings a wide range of African American sacred music, including hymns, anthems, praise and worship, traditional gospel, and contemporary gospel.
- Rehearsal: The Saturday before every fifth Sunday.
- Ministers: Every fifth Sunday, when applicable.
Praise & Worship Leaders
The Praise & Worship Leaders are adults from the Music Ministry selected by the Minister of Music.
- Rehearsals: Scheduled by the Minister of Music.
Praise Team
The Praise Team consists of members of the Music Ministry selected by the Minister of Music.
- Rehearsals: Scheduled by the Minister of Music.
